Fileboard App

Hi All,

Has anybody checked this app out yet?
I was looking for a way to send attachments from an iPad, and apparently this may be a solution?

Cheers,
JWI

Admin with the iPad

I have been focussing my use of the iPad on getting rid of my paper planner. Which I have now done.

I am using 2 apps;

Teacher Asst.

Planbook

Teacher Asst.
Brilliant for monitoring behaviour. You can upload your classes using a CSV file and include parent contact details. Set up a series of Actions which you are monitoring (positive and negative) and then keep track of behaviour against these actions. When they reach a specified level you can email home or do it immediately if there any serious incidents.

PlanBook
A great idea! Set up your timetable and plan your lessons on your iPad. The app is £6.99 but unfortunately it crashes and looses your data quite often. However, if you’re a committed gadget freak like me you can fork out £24.95 for the full computer version and sync with your iPad via Dropbox. I haven’t had a crash since!

The kids are amazed with Teacher Asst. and are fascinated about how I can now email parents with behaviour reports at the push of a button!!!

Nearpod

What’s Nearpod?
Nearpod enables teachers to use their iPads to manage content on students’ devices. It combines presentation, engagement and real-time assessment tools into one integrated solution.

Before you start
Nearpod is a synchronous solution for the use of iPad and other iOS devices in education.
To try Nearpod, you will need one iPad running the Nearpod Teacher app, and at least one other iOS device (iPad, iPhone or iPod touch) running the Nearpod Student app.
All devices should be connected to the internet.

How it works
1. Create: Teachers login to new.nearpod.com to create multimedia presentations with interactive features such as quizzes, videos, polls, sketching tools, and more. They can also access featured presentations from certified publishers and fellow educators.

2. Engage: In the classroom, teachers use the Nearpod Teacher iPad app to share content with their students and manage the flow of the lecture. Students will use the Nearpod Student app on their iOS devices to receive curricular content, participate in activities and submit responses

3. Assess: Teachers can see students’ answers in real time on the Nearpod Teacher app.
To access post-session data, teachers can log in to new.nearpod.com and obtain detailed activity reports.

Using the Flipboard app to find more information and educational apps

I’ve had my own iPad for a few months and because I knew that OM were going to get iPads to use in the classroom, I have been looking for apps which might be useful. Because the search facility on the Apps Store is rubbish, it isn’t always that easy to find good things to use.

One thing that has been very useful is the Flipboard app, which is free to download. You can set this up to collect information from all sorts of social media, such as twitter, Google+ and Google reader. What I have found really useful is that you can set it up so that anytime a particular hash tag is entered on twitter it will deliever that information to your flipboard to read when you want to. Doing this has helped me find all sorts of things, not only apps, but reviews of apps and suggestions for how to use them too.

Some of the things I am following in this way are #ipaddapps #edtech #ukedchat and #edapps. This has helped me to find lots of interesting apps and ideas for using ipads in the classroom.

If this doesn’t make sense feel free to ask me to show you flipboard on my iPad or have a look at the following link
